Jay-Z's Company 'Tidal' Plans To Donate 200,000 Pounds Worth Of Supplies To Puerto Rico While Donald Trump continues to make use of his Twitter fingers, the hip-hop community has led the charge in providing relief efforts for Puerto Rico.
More recently, Jay-Z's Tidal has launched a lofty initiative that is set to provide Hurricane Maria victims with 200,000 pounds of supplies.
According to the streaming service, Roc Nation, along with Governor Cuomo, is collecting much-needed supplies for the devastated island. In the wake of
the natural disaster, the people of Puerto Rico have been left without running water, electricity and access to communication. Through Tidal's intiative, the company intends on filling a cargo plane with disaster relief supplies by Oct. 5.
New Yorkers can drop off approved supplies at multiple locations, while those outside the New York area are encouraged to make donations via the Tidal website. Tidal has set up drop-off locations available between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day until Oct. 5 in Albany, Syracuse, Yonkers, Brooklyn and elsewhere. The project, set to take place until Oct. 17, has plans on sending multiple cargo planes to Puerto Rico. Currently, the following items are being accepted for donations:
batteries
flashlights
portable lanterns
diapers
baby wipes
cases of water
feminine hygiene products
In addition to the cargo plane initiative, Tidal is also hosting its third annual Tidal X: Brooklyn charity concert on Oct. 17. Hov joins DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Vic Mensa and many more who are scheduled to appear. All net proceeds from the concert will be donated to disaster relief and recovery organizations.
